Enhance Your Ride: Professional Saddle Fitting Service

Unsure whether your western saddle fits your horse or looking for a new one? Western saddle fitting can be challenging, with no standard sizing across brands. I’m here to help you find the perfect match for you and your horse.

Using both hands-on assessment and digital tools, including live pressure mapping with the Tactilus Equestrics® Sensor System, my evaluations are transparent and easy to understand. Each visit focuses on determining whether your current saddle works or if an alternative is needed. There is no limit to the number of saddles we can try, and if we don’t find a suitable one during the session, I’ll continue the search on your behalf.

Every horse receives a dedicated file for future reference and to track changes over time. Pressure mapping is included in standard fittings but can also be booked separately.

Read on to learn what happens during a full saddle fitting session and explore the available packages. If you have any questions I haven’t covered, feel free to reach out—I’m here to help throughout the entire process.

Things to keep in mind

It is up to the customer, to ensure that we are in a space that is independent of the weather. This is mainly to keep the saddles protected from the elements.

If we are only testing the customers saddle, being outdoors is completely fine.

Upon arrival, the horse should be clean and ready, waiting in the stable or arena/ indoor.

What happens during a full saddle fitting session?

Step 1

Physical & Visuell Examination

We start the consultation with looking at the physical examination and palpation of your horse, its muscle proportions and conformation. We also look at the horse in motion.

At this point we also have a short analysis of yourself, the rider to see what kind of needs you have in a saddle.

Step 2

Drawing the Horse

Now I am going to mark all important points on your horses back and than transfer key measurments of your horses back, with the help of a flexible ruler, into a digital file to keep track on your horses history and to keep simply file.

Believe me when it is fun to track your horses progress over time.

Step 3

Take a Mold of the Horses Back

During the next step I am going to mold a saddle grid to your horses back. This helps me to be able to do a quick check on your current saddle(s) if you have any, and/or also make a selection of saddles that could be a match to your horse.

Step 4

Saddle Check & Selection

We can use the saddle grid to now either check the saddle(s) you already have or use it to make a quick selection of saddles we want to try on your horse.

Step 5

Saddle Testing & Pressure Mapping

This is a crucial part - we test selected saddles on your horse. I want to see you in the saddle - if your horse is saddlebroke - to determine the fit while in motion.

To determine if the saddle is a good fit, I use a pressure mapping blanket under the saddle pad and saddle for instant digital feedback.

At the end we hopefully have a found a match for you and your horse.

You have still got questions?

Read our FAQ's

Do I have to ride my horse?

It is definitely from advantage if you can test ride, but if you're horse is a youngster than normal check will suffice until later in training. Please do make sure though that your horse is ok with different people and having saddles placed on their back.

What is if you do not have a saddle that fits my horse?

There is unfortunately always a risk that I will not have a saddle with that fits your horse well enough. With all the data I took however, I can continoue to find a match.

Do you carry treeless saddles?

No I don't.

Can I exchange my current saddle?

That is absolutely something we can discuss pre or at my visit. Please check also the section about selling your saddle with us.

Do you fit English saddles?

I don't and I do. With that I mean, if you have a hunter saddle for example, I am happy to check that one too, as well as offer pressure mapping for the saddles you have.I do however not buy/ commission or look for english saddles to match with owners at this point.
